Set in the not-so-distant future, Metropia depicts an Orwellian nightmarish world where every aspect of life is under control. Oil supplies are fast depleting, and the underground train systems have been linked up into a gigantic subway network beneath Europe. Whenever Roger (Vincent Gallo) enters this system, he hears a stranger’s voice in his head. He looks to the mysterious Nina (Juliette Lewis) for help in escaping the disturbing network of the Metro, but the further they travel, the deeper he finds himself entwined in a dark web of conspiracy and deception.
Produced over a period of six years, Metropia is Tarik Saleh’s newest film, following the successes of several other award-winning creative documentaries and short films, including Sacrificio: Who Betrayed Che Guevara (2001) and Gitmo - The New Rules of War (2005). Metropia won the Future Film Festival Digital Award at the 2009 Venice Film Festival.
