This feature-length compilation of the Postgal Workshop's best-known animated shorts are exemplars of the distinct Postgal aesthetic which has garnered acclaim and accolades from Hong Kong to Japan, Korea, and the United States, characterized by minimal dialogue, aggressively colorful palettes and an intense local flavour. These hand-drawn animation films deal with aspects of life in Hong Kong rarely addressed in media.
The Tired City takes a look at Hong Kong's obsession with money and economics, and the toll it exacts; Fool Lee is an urban romantic fantasy; Mum is Born gives voice to the complexity of familial relationships and questions where duty begins and ends; Hidden Elders is a colorful animation documentary that examines how the elderly fit into the youthful chaos of metropolises like Hong Kong.
