Nancy Beiman, who has extensive experience in many facets of Animation, will present an interactive class where participants are given an assignment to create a short story with two characters and a prop that must be illustrated in three or four boards.

Participants will learn how the animation storyboard differs from live action boards, and how characters must be developed simultaneously with the story. Positive and negative examples of storyboard and character design are presented and analyzed to demonstrate successful problem-solving techniques.

Nancy Beiman
She is an icon of the industry with 30 years experience as producer, designer, and story artist. She has grown and changed with the animation industry having graduated from the pencil to the computer.

She has animated Bugs Buggy, Donald Duck, Snoopy and Goofy, friends of Fievel Mouse and Mickey Mouse, Don Martin's humans and Chuck Jones' Martians. She was Supervising Animator for The Fates and the Thebans in Disney Feature Animation's feature film, Hercules.

Miss Beiman has taught in a variety of positions, including her current position at Rochester Institute of Technology. Her first book, published in 2007, entitled “Prepare to Board!” which teaches character and storyboard design, has been well received by animators and animation schools throughout the world.
