SG ANIMATION INDUSTRY PANELISTS
Ervin Han is the co-founder and managing director of Robot Playground Media, an animation studio based in Singapore. He has over 15 years’ experience in the media and animation industry, and has produced a range of content for broadcasters and corporate clients, including TV shows, web series, short films, commercials and educational apps. He is the creator of Heartland Hubby, Singapore’s first prime time animated sitcom, and most recently directed the award-winning SG50 short film, The Violin.
ANG QING SHENG
Qing Sheng is currently an independent animation filmmaker in Singapore and teaches in the Animation programme at LASALLE College of the Arts. He has received support from both LASALLE Research Project Funding and National Arts Council to produce animated short films which were screened in numerous local and international festivals.
HARRY & HENRY ZHUANG
Having received a scholarship from Media Development Authority, both Harry Zhuang and Henry Zhuang hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degrees from Nanyang Technological University - School of Art, Design and Media. Their first independent short film Contained received the Best Animation prize and Special Mention for “Best Sound“ at the 2nd Singapore Short Film Awards in 2011. Currently, both brothers are working on ‘Voices for the Myths’, a series of animation workshops supported by National Heritage Board Participation Grant. They recently founded Weaving Clouds Studio (www.weavingclouds.com), whose clients include Esplanade, Changi Airport Group and Dramabox. Weaving Clouds are dedicated to producing more animation that explore creative storytelling.
Justin is the co-founder of the Southeast Asian Audio-Visual Association (SAAVA), a non-profit network seeking to unify media producers, creative entrepreneurs, and investors around ASEAN, and is also a member of the EAVE network of European producers. Most recently, Justin co-founded the Southeast Asian Film Financing (SAFF) Forum, the region’s biggest media financing platform that engages and educates stakeholders from both the creative and financial sectors in developing modern modes of entertainment financing. He is currently the principal and managing partner of the USD30M Aurora Media Capital fund, investing in entertainment properties and media assets worldwide including animation and licensing of characters. He has produced and optioned multiple animated series such as "The Mushies," "Eco-Warriors 2095," and "Abbie Rose & The Magic Suitcase”.
Michael is the festival director of Animation Nation 2016 and a committee member of the Singapore Film Society. He currently sits on the board of the Singapore International Film Festival and has been involved with Broadcast Asia, Screen Singapore and Broadcast Indonesia. He is the founder of the Singapore Visual Effects and Animation group with over 2,400 members. Michael’s background includes started working on indie short films, film curation and preservation and also working on Hollywood features including a Harry Potter film and directing Jackie Chan for UNICEF.
