Animated Short Film Initiative

The Animated Short Film Initiative is an initiative from the Singapore Film Society (SFS), supported by the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA), to nurture talents in the animation industry. It supports the production of animated shorts of up to 30 minutes in length by both individuals and companies. |

In Competition for Golden Bear in Berlinale 1975, Sandakan No. 8 is Japanese director Kumai Kei’s best known work and it tells the moving story of the life of a karayuki-san (juvenile prostitute) in the Japanese colonies of Southeast Asia in the early twentieth century. |
