Singapore Heritage Short Film Competition

Submission Guidelines

We welcome all Singaporeans, PR, or foreigners on long term stay who reside here, to send in their submissions. There are two categories, the STUDENTS category, and the OPEN category, so everybody of any age can now participate in our competition. Each participating team needs to comprise two to five members. The film can be either short documentaries or docu-dramas. Films may be in any language. However, non-English dialogue films must be subtitled in English.

There are no entry fees, but all postage fees for film submissions shall be borne by the filmmakers. Submission packages must be postage pre-paid and include the following:

The final selection of all films is up to the discretion of the Organiser. Only selected entrants will be officially notified.

Deadline for Proposal Submission - 30 April 2016.

Successful Entries

Successful entries are to shoot their short films from April to June 2016. While shooting their short films, teams are required to blog / vlog their working process, engagement with Social Media for raising awareness. It is the responsibility of the filmmakers to ensure that all approvals and permissions for use of materials within the film (music, archived materials, etc) have been obtained before submission.

The final submitted films are not to be more than 10 minutes in duration. HSFC will request additional information, together with the submitted short film, for press and publicity. A soft copy press kit must accompany all selected films. The press kit must include print-quality digital promotional photographs, team members’ biography, and production notes.

Launch and Award Ceremony

The launch and award ceremony is scheduled in early September 2016. There are cash prizes awaiting the top three winners of the competition. There is also a special Best Technical Achievement Prize too.
